I love people doing a good job of singing other people's songs . Great songs like Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard are just made to be sung and this campfire version is just ace.
Songs from Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water album bring back memories for me of when we first moved to Taranaki, not long after my father died. We moved to a 25 acre market garden and had a road-side stall to sell our vegetables.
I spent most of my school holidays from boarding school manning that stall. It wasn't the world's busiest fruit and vegetable stall so there were many hours when there weren't any customers stopping by.
In those quiet times I would slide into the drivers seat of my Uncle's coupe and play Bridge Over Troubled Water on his 8-track. I can't even tell you how many times I listened to that album but I have never stopped loving it.
So crank it up and sing it loud. Happy New Year, everyone.
