Better homes and gardens
Take a look at this video of Bella digging one of her burrows.
There are a lot of these holes in the garden now - all the bunnies dig and when we move the hutches, we fill in the holes. Many of them are very deep, long, and complicated.
While there is plenty of evidence of over-night digging, until now I hadn't seen how she spread the tunnel dirt so evenly over the floor of the run. She uses her paws and her nose to make sure that predators won't be alerted to her burrow by looking for piles of dirt.
Clever, busy, bunnie.
Bella has completely filled in the burrow as if it had never existed. I suspect she did this because over the weekend my 6 year old grand daughter, Tandia, shoved her leg down the burrow to 'measure' how deep it was. For the record, Bella's burrow was one, full, six year old's leg deep.
